He continued his studies at Trinity College, Dublin and became a Civil Engineer working in Burma. During World War One, Edgar joined the Royal Engineers serving in East Africa from July 1915 where he was mentioned in despatches by Major General A.R. Hoskins C.M.G, D.S.O. It is interesting that both Sir Roger and Edgar spent time in Africa in their chosen careers. Edgar survived the war and returned to Simla to continue his previous employment. His son, Peter Reginald Casement joined the Royal Air Force and won a DSO, DFC & Bar, AFC in a brilliant career that saw him sink a U-Boat in the Battle of the Atlantic and capture the action on film, the first such recording ever made. He died in 2016 and his medals, uniforms and log books featured on a Yesterday history channel series broadcast last year.
